In Heli, Dinajpur, the price of green chillies is being reduced by Tk 10 to Tk 40 per kg. Earlier, raw chilli was sold at Tk 50 per kg. Common people are happy to reduce the price of green chillies.
Biplab Sheikh, a raw material trader in Heli Bazar, said that the production of chillies in different parts of the country has been good due to the good weather for the past few days. As a result, the supply of green chillies in the market has increased and the prices have come down.
Siddique Hossain, a buyer of the local market, said that the reduction in the price of green pepper has brought some relief. Pepper had to be bought at a higher price a few days ago.
Anwar Hossain, the importer of Hili land port, said that the import of pepper through the port started after the government got approval to control the price of pepper in the country market and keep the supply normal.
At present the prices have come down due to increased supply of domestic chillies. That is why raw chillies are not being imported from India.
Sohrab Hossain, public relations officer of the land port, said that no green pepper came through the port on Thursday.
